Azure IAM has launched an automated service that converts Microsoft Identity Manager configurations into working SailPoint IdentityIQ builds, using deterministic translation, parallel run validation, and fixed fee pricing based on documented scope.
-- Azure IAM, LLC, an identity and access management consultancy based in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has launched an automated migration service that converts existing Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM) configurations into working SailPoint IdentityIQ builds.
Replacing MIM is a discovery problem before it is an engineering problem. The rules that decide who gets which account, and what happens when someone joins or leaves an organization, sit across several MIM components and, in many estates, inside compiled software nobody has examined in years. The new service starts from a report an internal team can already produce out of MIM and converts it into configuration IdentityIQ can import.
The transformation engine processes both halves of a MIM estate. From the MIM Service it takes the business logic: sets, groups, and synchronization rules. From the Metaverse it takes the technical plumbing: management agents, attribute mappings, precedence decisions, and the custom code grown around them. The output is business and IT roles, criteria-based populations, and translated BeanShell rules, plus an audit report showing what each original object became.
The governing principle is that the conversion does not guess. Anything that cannot be translated faithfully is delivered as a clearly marked placeholder with the reason recorded, rather than approximated. A flagged gap can be scheduled and priced. A silent error cannot: a subtly wrong rule produces output that looks correct and surfaces as a production problem weeks later.
Two safeguards are built into the process. The role conversion produces a spreadsheet showing what every group became, so the mapping is reviewed before anything is imported. Both systems then run side by side, with only MIM making live changes, until the results match. Cutover is evidence based, not schedule driven.
Where compiled rules extensions lack accessible source code, the service applies decompilation recovery to rebuild the missing logic for review. Pricing is fixed fee, based on the documented scope of the estate rather than open ended estimation. The company positions the work as a migration rather than a redesign: organizations get off an aging platform first, and improvements are handled as separate work.
